Meet Preoccupied Bride – Chicago Wedding Planner Vendor Highlights Series by Chicago Wedding Photographer
I am currently sitting in a cute coffee shop close to my home, cranking out some work. I have been editing last weekend wedding, answering emails and finally writing a new blog post.
Lately I came out with this cute idea. To blog series about local Chicago wedding vendors that I am so excited to introduce you to! I am calling it the Vendor Highlights Series! I think that this is a great idea to introduce my favorite vendors to my brides and grooms.
A a wedding photographer I have pleasure and privilege to work with so many talented and amazing vendors (people). It is also great way to support my fellow creatives and their small businesses, their work and brands.
Preoccupied Bride Chicago Wedding and Event Planner
My first Vendor Highlight is Maya! Maya owns and runs her wedding and event planning business Preoccupied Bride and brings the calm to every wedding she plan or manage.
Maya’s creative nature and skills as a former project manager. She is insanely organized and detail-obsessed planner, stickler for deadlines and communicator enthusiast. Which made wedding and event planning extra appealing to her.
Her with planning weddings story starts in 2016. When she had an epiphany after planning her Indian-Polish wedding. From start to finish. A wedding planning required the same set of skills, which she already had, and that sealed the deal for her. As a result, she started her own full-time wedding planning business in 2017. She have helped many couples plan and manage their dream day.
Who are your clients?
Maya: Preoccupied Bride works best with busy professionals in the Chicago area who value celebrating their wedding day with their loved ones. Our ideal couples are organized. Have a solid idea of the style and feel they would like for their wedding. Prioritize guest experience and are most excited about marrying their best friend rather than having an Instagram wedding.
What services do you offer?
Maya: Preoccupied Bride offers wedding planning services in Chicago and its surrounding suburbs. Services range from wedding management (day of coordination) to partial and full planning. Whether you’re looking for a coordinator to manage your day, some professional advice to find and choose vendors, or full planning to make all arrangements after you get engaged, including the venue hunt. Preoccupied Bride is ready to help you plan your wedding in whatever capacity you wish. Custom event planning services are also available to plan wedding-related events.
What is the biggest struggle for couples when planning a wedding and how are your services helping to resolve them?
Maya: One of the biggest struggles couples face when planning their wedding is managing their expectations versus reality when it comes to their wedding budget. Couples experience a lot of sticker shock when they start shopping around for venues and vendors. They have no idea what wedding services cost or why. When an engaged couple works with Preoccupied Bride, our company educates couples on the reality of wedding costs. We asks deeper questions to not only find out their style, budget and wants but also match them to quality, professional vendors according to those important elements.
What questions should I ask my wedding planner?
Maya: Three of the most important questions you should ask your wedding planner are:
- What is and isn’t included in your wedding services?
Every planner has a list of things they will and won’t do. For example, one planner may include mailing wedding invites and managing guest RSVPs in their full planning service while another planner may not offer those services. Find out what exactly they do, and more importantly what they don’t do, in their wedding services so you know what to expect. - Do you accept commissions from venues and vendors?
Planners have different opinions on this, so it’s important to know where they stand. If a planner takes commissions from certain venues or vendors, it’s good to know that upfront as a couple. Their suggestions for who to book can still be quality and professional options, but they may be more biased or personally motivated for their suggestions if they’ll get a commission from a particular venue or vendor, and a planner should be honest about it. - Will you be the planner onsite on my wedding day?
If you’re working with a smaller business, the answer is most likely yes, but it doesn’t hurt to ask whether you’re working with a small or big company. Some planners may plan your event with you but have another coordinator take the lead of running your event on your actual wedding day, while another planner will plan and coordinate your event from beginning to end. Make sure to find out if who you plan with will also be onsite on your wedding day.
