Chicago Athletic Association classic & elegant summer wedding | Chicago wedding photographer | Maya + Matt | July 16th 2022
Putting the “class” in classic, Maya & Matt’s wedding day was filled with elegance. Their timeless affair took place at the Chicago Athletic Association and incorporated simplistic, yet stunning details.
The morning of Maya and Matt’s wedding I was just giddy with excitement! Not only are they an amazing couple that allowed me to photograph their engagement session in the really cold November afternoon and were so fun to work with, but they are the kindest people you will ever meet. Are you ready for this beautiful Chicago Athletic Association wedding, because I cannot wait to share! It was a celebration for the books!
The Chicago Athletic Association is the ideal Chicago setting for beginning your life story
The Chicago Athletic Association is the ideal Chicago setting for beginning your life story with the person you love the most. With its stalactite ceiling, flaming fireplaces, and wall of windows facing Millennium Park and Lake Michigan, the couple decided on the unusual Chicago Athletic Association as their location. For texture and sophistication, candles and flowers were used to decorate the space.
Maya and Matt’s Chicago Athletic Association Wedding was the kind of event I truly feel lucky to have been a part of. In addition to being a beautiful summer day in Chicago, having their wedding at a charming and historic location, and the couple being stunning, this day was full with lovely moments and genuine happiness.
Day filled with laugh & laughter
To celebrate these two, family and friends came from near and far, and let me tell you, it was a party. There are so many moments from this day that I will never forget. From their intimate first look in the Cancer Survivors’ Garden to the emotional ceremony… in Chicago Athletic Association – Madison Ballroom. I don’t think there was one dry eye (seriously)! The weather even cooperated for some couple photos at Wrigley Building and lovely garden photos at the Art Institute of Chicago. The White City Ballroom was glowing when guests entered for dinner. I absolutely loved the toasts and speeches – truly were the best I’ve heard, I can say that! The perfect combination of heartwarmingly sentimental all while filled with hilarious stories. This Chicago Athletic Association Wedding, and the couple we celebrated, will always hold a very special place in my heart!
Maya and Matt: THANK YOU so much for having me as your wedding photographer!! You two were a joy to photograph and I wish you nothing but happiness in your journey together. See the best moments of their day below.

I always love photographing weddings at the Chicago Athletic Association. The light there is so dramatic and as a photographer it’s fun to play with deep shadows and slivers of light for portraits. It’s also such a great venue for guests. The rooms are gorgeous and they can flow from ceremony to reception with ease.
I really enjoyed spending time with these two. They laugh and smile so much, it’s contagious. They are just so much fun! It was an honor to document this sweet couple and such a joy filled wedding day.
